Koh Juen
As an interdisciplinary research-based art practitioner, I move between the microscopic and the cosmic, cultivating critical artistic practices at the intersections of body politics and Eastern philosophical traditions. My work is grounded in non-Western feminist thought, posthuman ethics, and Taoist principles, approached through a decolonial lens that questions and reimagines dominant cultural paradigms.
Sound art forms the core of my methodology. As a music practitioner, I create sonic landscapes and participatory installations that emphasize embodied experience and presence over formal structures. My practice asks how sound can reconstruct cultural memory and open alternative pathways for marginalized narratives in our time.
My works take shape as sonic environments, installations, and radical poetics that explore how mediation reshapes bodily autonomy, emotions, and ecological awareness. I focus on sound’s capacity to anchor audiences in the present moment, deepening the connection between auditory perception and corporeal being.
In parallel with my artistic practice, I engage in astrology, feminist therapy, and content creation—fields that together articulate a holistic methodology I describe as poetics as social intervention. Within this framework, my work does not merely produce aesthetic objects but delineates zones of presence, reflection, and transformation, compelling participants to confront existence in ways that are both embodied and critically resonant.
